State troopers making a routine traffic stop in I-12 near I-55 on Sunday morning seized approximately 300 pounds of marijuana from a car driven by a 26-year-old Mississippi man.
A search of the vehicle was conducted after Carlos Davis of Greenwood was pulled over for a traffic violation and Davis reportedly acted "suspiciously." A drug-sniffing dog from the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office was called to the scene after Davis refused to allow troopers to search the vehicle.
In coordination with authorities in Mississippi, officers made a controlled delivery of marijuana to a residence in Jackson where additional arrests were made.
Officials estimated the seized marijuana had a street value of $250,000.
Davis was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
