A fifth suspect is under arrest in the August 10 shooting incident on Burgundy Street that left two persons dead and five others, including two little boys, wounded.
The NOPD reports that 34-year-old Michael Finnie was arrested Wednesday in Chalmette. Police believe Finnie drove the car used in the drive-by shootings.
Two other men are under arrest on charges of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. Police have alleged that 20-year-old Blair Taylor and 23-year-old Joseph Nelson III were the shooters.
25-year-old Jeffery Rivers allegedly provided a weapon and the vehicle and 25-year-old Ashley Shorts is charged with conspiracy to commit obstruction of justice in the case.
“The arrests we are making in this case are a direct result of strong police work and a successful partnership with the community,” said NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison. “We will continue to follow all leads in this investigation until everyone involved in this incident is brought to justice.”
