2nd Tropical Depression Of 2014 Season Develops In Atlantic
Posted Monday, July 21st 2014 @ 3pm

An area of showers associated with an area of low pressure in the central tropical Atlantic Ocean was named the 2nd tropical depression of the 2014 Atlantic hurricane season Monday afternoon.

However, the National Hurricane Center isn't giving the system much of a chance of growing stronger, saying the depression is moving into some dry air as it approaches the Caribbean Sea.

Forecasters expect the storm to dissipate in anywhere to 48 to 72 hours, possibly sooner.

As of 4pm Monday, the storm was located just over 1200 miles from the Lesser Antilles, with maximum winds of 35 miles per hour, moving west at 16 miles per hour.
