The St. Tammany Parish Fire District 8 in Bush will receive a FEMA grant of $294,500 to pay for a new fire engine, Sen. David Vitter announced Wednesday.

“Our firefighters are our first line of defense in an emergency, and it’s important that they have the proper equipment and training,” Vitter said.

The grant is awarded under the Fiscal Year 2013 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
