Southwest Airlines will add daily flights to San Antonio, Texas, from Louis Armstrong International Airport next year.
Southwest will add Saturday-only flights on a 143-seat Boeing 737 in March and expand to daily service April 7. NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports tickets for the March flights are currently on sale. Ticket sales for the daily flights begin in October.
The Saturday flights will leave New Orleans at 8:30 a.m. and arrive in San Antonio at 10:15 a.m.
Airport officials said Friday that the addition of the San Antonio flights brings to 42 the number of direct destinations on its schedule. That's the same number of direct flights it had before Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005.
Southwest also announced it's expanding direct flights to Milwaukee from New Orleans from weekly to daily.
