The New Orleans Saints officially announced the return of kicker Shayne Graham to the active roster Wednesday.
The move was discovered on the NFL's transaction wire Tuesday night.
Graham's return to the 53-man roster led to the exit of backup quarterback Ryan Griffin.
The Saints were without a kicker for a few days after neither Graham nor camp competitor Derek Dimke made the initial 53-man roster.
Also part of those cuts was wide receiver Robert Meachem, but the Saints have also brought him back to the team as rookie linebacker Khairi Fortt heads to the injured reserve/designated to return list.
The Saints have given outside linebacker Junior Galette a four-year extension worth $41.5 million.
Galette says he hopes his deal winds up looking like "a discount" for the Saints, who first signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Stillman in 2010. Galette, 26, became a starter last season after Will Smith was placed on injured reserve. He wound up with 12 sacks.
New Orleans opens the regular season Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
