Gov. Edwards To See President In D.C.

Governor John Bel Edwards will spend the weekend in Washington D.C. and he will see the President while he is there.

Edwards is attending the winter meeting of the National Governors Association.

His office says he will  meet with the acting administrator of FEMA, Robert Fenton and the new Health and Human Services Secretary, Tom Price.

On Sunday, he is scheduled to meet with House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and the new Director of the Office of Management and Budget Mick Mulvaney.

Edwards will lobby for additional disaster relief funds from the federal government.  Congress has allocated $1.6 billion for expenses associated with the state's August flooding disaster but the Governor is requesting an additional $2 billion.

Edwards will join other Governors in a meeting with President Trump on Monday.
