Causeway commuters will begin paying higher tolls at 4 a.m. on Saturday, May 6.
The increased revenue will pay for safety improvements including higher guard rails on both spans and safety bays where motorists could pull over on shoulders.
The new toll revenue will be used to pay back over $100 million in bonds over 30 years.
Tolls will be raised from $3 to $5 for those paying cash and from $2 to $3 for toll-tag users.
