A woman is dead in a two-car accident on Transcontinental Drive.
Jefferson Parish deputies answered the accident call early yesterday morning. Shantrell Wiggins' car hit the rear of another vehicle and then plowed into a light pole and rolled over.
Wiggins was alive when first responders got her out of the wrecked vehicle but she died later at a New Orleans hospital.
A passenger in her car was treated and released. No one else was injured.
Power in the neighborhood was cut off for several hours due to the downed light pole.
