Quite a few people lost power in Mid-City after a car crashed into a utility pole and then flipped into the Washington Avenue canal.
The wreck near Xavier University last night forced a number of students into action as they rescued the driver from his car and the water. The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Nearly three thousand Entergy customers lost power due to the crash.
