Former Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco is asking for prayers as she battles melanoma liver cancer, for which she says there is no cure.
She made the announcement in an op-ed piece that appeared in The Advocate Sunday. Blanco says she has already begun a treatment program.
Governor John Bel Edwards released a statement calling Blanco a "strong woman of incredible faith."
