Fiery Holiday Weekend I-12 Crash Kills Four

State police continue to investigate a fiery, holiday weekend crash that killed four people, two of them from Baton Rouge, Saturday afternoon in St. Tammany Parish.

It happened on I-12 East at LA-21 near Covington when an 18-wheeler hauling avocados slammed into congested traffic and burst into flames, along with three other vehicles involved in the ten-vehicle pileup.

The unidentified truck driver was killed, as were Yoland and Keland Simmons of Baton Rouge and Rachel Lehmann of Mandeville.
