Pair Accused In Strangulation, Smothering Death Of Man In Terrytown

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is accusing two men in the death of a 29-year-old over the weekend who was bound with duct tape and severely injured at a strip mall in Terrytown.

The coroner's office tells NOLA.com the victim, Mohamed Mezlini, was assaulted inside an empty store Saturday afternoon and died Sunday from asphyxia due to strangulation and smothering.

So far, 17-year-old Yazan Omar has been charged with second-degree murder, while his older brother, Saleh Omar, will face the same charge once he's located.

No word on the motive for the deadly attack.
