Governor John Bel Edwards and Louisiana House Republicans both agree that teachers and school support staff deserve a raise.
The state budget proposal filed last week by the House Appropriations Chairman includes a $104 million increase in K-12 funding
The proposal is enough to cover the raise for teachers and staff that Edwards has been heavily pushing for, though he would like an additional $39 million for discretionary spending.
The next legislative session begins April 9th.
