Cornerstone Sues Jefferson Parish For Revoking Cyanide Plant Permit

Cornerstone Chemical Company is filing a lawsuit against Jefferson Parish after the parish council revoked a permit last week allowing a hydrogen cyanide plant.

The council had previously been in support of the project before residents voiced their displeasure with the project.

Cornerstone filed its suit today in the 24th District Court and seeks to halt the permit from being reascended. According to the company, it's looking at an over $10 million loss for engineering, designs and permitting costs should the permit be pulled.
