City Council Calling For Fresh Start For Those With Traffic Warrants

Traffic lights over blue sky

The City Council is calling for a fresh start for some.

Council members are seeking to cancel fees and warrants resulting from traffic fines and fees, believing it would relieve the burden of poor residents.

The resolution passed Thursday calls to dismiss all outstanding charges for low-level and nonviolent offenses.

The resolution, which has no force of law, would call for about 55,000 outstanding warrants, dating back as far as 20 years, to be tossed out for more than 45,000 people.
