The Kenner Police Department says it has already seen an increase in traffic accidents on the interstate near the new airport terminal.
Officials said on Wednesday morning they had five accident calls during rush hour between 6:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Most issues seemed to center on the I-10 westbound off-ramp, where drivers tend to wait until the last minute to exit.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation says it will work with Kenner Police to develop a plan to reduce off-ramp backup.
