New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is closing off the area around a collapsed hotel for this year's Mardi Gras.

Mayor Cantrell announced Monday that she is "grateful" Carnival krewes have been open to making adjustments to their parade routes to avoid the Hard Rock Hotel area.

The two biggest parading krewes affected by the route change are Endymion and Zulu, which both traditionally pass along that stretch of Canal and North Rampart streets.

City officials say it is still unclear how exactly the routes of the two parades will change.
