Governor Edwards Calls On Judge Who Sent Racist Texts To Resign

John Bel Edwards Campaigns In New Orleans Ahead Of Gubernatorial Runoff Election

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards is calling for a Judicial District Judge to step down after admitting to sending racist text messages.

Edwards' office confirmed yesterday a statement from the governor that Judge Jessie LeBlanc had compromised her ability to preside as a judge and damaged the judiciary.

LeBlanc recently admitted she had sent the texts with racial slurs directed at an Ascension Parish Deputy and a court employee.

LeBlanc says she has no plans to resign and will run for re-election when her term expires in December.
