Engineers say they will attempt to remove the bodies of two workers killed in the Hard Rock Hotel collapse during the second phase of demolition.

In an update given to the city council on Thursday, engineer Walter Zehner said the upper structure is unstable and must come down safely before anything else can happen.

Zehner said the tower crane hanging across Canal Street will be removed during phase one of the four-phase process.

Zehner also said the Saenger Theatre is outside the work zone and should be safe from damage, and when phase two begins, the worker's bodies will be extracted respectfully.
