Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng is asking shoppers to only spend their money at businesses following COVID-19 guidelines.
Sheng spoke over the weekend, saying if an establishment is not meeting the proper standards, shoppers should walk out and go someplace else.
Sheng added that Jefferson Parish is seeing a new spike in COVID-19 cases and businesses not enforcing social distancing, and mask-wearing is part of the issue.
The Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission is backing Sheng's idea in the hopes shopping at compliant stores and restaurants will help stop community spread.
