COVID-19 Hospitalizations Continued Fall Friday, LDH Adds 28 To Death Count

The number of patients hospitalized due to COVID-19 continued to fall in Friday's update from the Louisiana Department of Health.

Hospitalizations decreased by 38 to 1,243, though the number of patients on ventilators went up by one to 197.

LDH reported 1,380 additional coronavirus cases, most collected between August 6 and August 13. 85% of the cases were attributed to community spread with 29% involved those 29 and younger.

Following the daily removal of newly discovered duplicates and out of state cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Louisiana since the pandemic began stood at 136,737.

The death toll increased by 28 to 4,307.
