The Archdiocese of New Orleans says they have removed a priest from St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Slidell.
According to reports, Father Patrick Wattigny was removed from ministry on Thursday after admitting to sexually abusing a minor.
Wattigny was ordained in 1994 and has previously served at churches in Covington, Kenner, Metairie, and Marrero as well as at Archbishop Rummell High School and Pope John Paul the Second High School.
The Archdiocese did not release details about the abuse but did say it took place in 2013.
