St. Tammany Parish Health System To Temporarily Halt Elective Procedures

The St. Tammany Health System says it will temporarily pause performing some elective surgeries beginning today.

Officials announced the policy following the admittance of more than a dozen new COVID-19 patients over last week.

All elective surgery requiring an overnight stay will be postponed until coronavirus cases drop again.

Administrators say outpatient procedures that do not require a hospital stay will proceed, and emergency inpatient procedures will also continue.
