Several new state laws concerning marijuana possession, policing practices, and abortion are now in effect.

On Sunday, more than 250 new bills officially became law and will begin being enforced.

Several high-profile new laws include ending jail time for possessing small amounts of marijuana, roadways receiving new names, and candidates now able to take unlimited sums from political action committees.

Also in effect is a requirement for doctors administering the abortion pill and restrictions on chokeholds used by police.
