The Christmas Eve bonfires return to St. James Parish this year, lighting the way for Santa Claus.

Last year the pandemic interrupted the tradition for the first time ever, but locals say Santa was able to deliver the goods anyway.

There are more than 130 bonfires lined up and ready to be lit on the St. James Parish levee. They're in all different shapes, including tepees, tomahawks, and a giant crab.

The bonfires in St. James will be lit up at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
