State election officials have reached an agreement with the organizers of the campaign to recall New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell over the number of signatures required to trigger an election.

The Secretary of State's Office will move more than 25,000 names out of the Orleans Parish active voter list, reducing the amount of signatures needed for a recall by about 5,000.

The decision comes after the NoLaToya campaign claimed over 30,000 people on the list either moved out of the area or died.

The signatures must now be verified by the Orleans Registrar's Office, but the organizers believe they have enough to proceed to an election.
