A media report says support for the recall effort against New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is mostly along racial lines.

An analysis by the Times-Picayune says the people who signed the recall petition were mostly white residents of neighborhoods where Cantrell didn't have strong support.

The paper is the only media outlet to receive even a partial list of the signatures submitted to the registrar of voters last month.

Pollsters and political analysts say the results aren't surprising, because it makes sense for the recall organizers to look for signers in places like Lakeview and Uptown, where Cantrell's support is weak.
