New Orleans police officers and the Louisiana State Police will join forces for Operation Golden Eagle this summer for the third year in a row.

The program increases police patrols in an effort to deter crime and catch violent offenders.

The city has seen more than 86 murders so far this year, prompting Interim Police Superintendent Michelle Woodfork to ask for help from the state police.

State troopers and New Orleans officers will patrol neighborhoods, crime hotspots, and the Interstates to increase police presence and reduce crime.
