A kidnapping suspect from Mississippi is in custody after turning himself in to the Slidell police on Wednesday evening.

Slidell police started a manhunt on Tuesday morning after Eric Rawlings, Jr. was seen leaving a Red Roof Inn and heading for a TA truck stop on Gause Blvd. near I-10.

Rawlings evaded capture for more than 24 hours.

Three kidnapped children, including two toddlers and a baby, are now in Louisiana state custody.

Police also arrested Rawlings's suspected accomplice, Ronneisha Evans.
