A man is in custody after exiting a plane at Louis Armstrong International Airport through the emergency hatch and running onto the tarmac.

Jefferson Parish deputies arrested the man on Sunday night after he reportedly left the Southwest Airlines jet, which was still parked at the terminal and hadn't yet pushed back from the gate for takeoff.

Deputies took the man to a hospital for evaluation. His name hasn't been released.

He faces no criminal charges just yet, but his case has been referred to federal authorities.
