A recall effort is underway against new St. Tammany Parish coroner Dr. Christopher Tape.
A group of parish leaders and lawmakers announced the planned recall at the state capitol on Monday afternoon, Tape's first day in office.
It came to light in February that Tape faced six counts of child sexual assault in New Mexico more than 20 years ago, but the charges were dropped.
Recall organizers have 180 days to collect about 37,000 signatures of registered voters in the parish.
