City Asks New Orleans Krewes To Limit Size Of Parades

City officials are asking Carnival krewes to consider making their parades shorter.

The Mayor's Mardi Gras Advisory Council met with krewe representatives on Thursday to discuss the possibilities for 2025.

The population of New Orleans is still lower than it was before Katrina, but parades and their crowds have continued to grow.

Part of the problem with longer parades is that they tie up larger numbers of police doing traffic control for a longer time.
