An inmate in the custody of the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office has died.
The 23-year-old man was found unresponsive by his cell mate shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The Sheriff's Officer says medical and security staff responded and provided emergency treatment until EMS arrived. The inmate was pronounced dead at 8:15pm. There were no signs of physical trauma or self-inflicted injury. A full investigation will be conducted.
The name of the inmate will be released after notification to his family.
