Mayor's Brother To Seek Sister's Court Seat

The brother of Mayor Mitch Landrieu will seek a court seat being vacated in a few months by his sister, Madeline Landrieu.

53-year-old attorney Martin Landrieu has announced his candidacy for the seat on the state's 4th Circuit Court of Appeal.

Landrieu says he decided to enter the race at the urging of "numerous well-respected judges serving on courts of appeal throughout Louisiana."

Madeline Landrieu is leaving the court to become the Dean of the Loyola University Law School.

So far, one other candidate has announced plans to seek the seat, Orleans Criminal Court Judge Robin Pttman.  A date for the election has not yet been set.
