Kenner Council Delays Enforcement of Boat Law

The Kenner City Council has voted to delay enforcement of a law setting restrictions on where residents can park boats and RV's.

The law, approved in March 2016, was supposed to be enforced beginning next month, but enforcement has now been delayed until next April at the earliest.

The law set fines for residents who store their boats or recreational vehicles in areas where they can be seen by the public.

City Councilman Michael Sigur says efforts will be made over the next year to reach a compromise that could include exempting owners of boats that were purchased before the new law was approved.
