State House Nixes Proposal To Permanently End Sales Tax Breaks

A vote in the State House stops an effort to permanently eliminate several sales tax breaks.

HB 609 failed by a 20-81 vote Tuesday.

The bill's disapproval means last year's temporary hold on the sales tax breaks will go away at the start of the next fiscal year. Without some other cost-saving measure, the state faces a burgeoning budget shortfall starting on July 1st, 2018.
