Flags To Fly At Half-Staff Today In Louisiana

Waving USA and Louisiana State Flag

Governor John Bel Edwards is ordering the Stars and Stripes and the Louisiana state flag to fly at half-staff today.

The governor's order is to honor the memory of former interim Secretary of State Al Ater who died at age 63 last Sunday at a Houston hospice.

Among other noteworthy achievements, Ater was instrumental in getting the city of New Orleans to allow residents displaced by Katrina and who relocated out of state to be able to vote in municipal elections following the storm.
