As LSU prepares for their latest trip to Omaha, two Tigers are also planning their futures in the major leagues.

The Chicago Cubs selected pitcher Alex Lange with the 30th overall selection in the first round of the MLB Draft Monday night. A few picks later in the second round, the Oakland Athletics picked outfielder Greg Diechmann at number 43.

LSUsports.net says Lange's selection is the seventh time in nine seasons that a LSU player has been chosen in the first round of the MLB Draft.

Diechmann's decision to return to Baton Rouge for his junior season paid off, as he was originally drafted as a sophomore in the 26th round last year by the Minnesota Twins.
