Baton Rouge Teen Accused Of Attacking Kenner Couple

Kenner Police say a Baton Rouge teen is accused of beating an elderly couple with a hammer inside their Teton St. home in the Woodlake subdivision Sunday and then stealing their car.

70-year-old Anita Lynch and 89-year-old Phillip Lynch had apparently been struck in the head by the 16-year-old as police say the hammer was found covered in blood and hair.

The teen is "acquainted" with the Lynchs and detectives were told he was inside their home when the attack occurred.

Mrs. Lynch, covered in blood, walked over to a neighbor's home to say she and her husband had been attacked and to ask for help. That neighbor then called 911 around 3:30 p.m.

The 16-year-old was detained by Baton Rouge Police after the stolen vehicle had been involved in an accident. He now faces 2 counts of attempted first-degree murder, theft of a motor vehicle, and aggravated burglary.

The victims remain hospitalized in critical condition.
