A new report says people drinking New Orleans tap water may have been exposed to elevated lead levels.

The report released Wednesday by the city Inspector General's Office says the city should do more to warn residents.

The city has acknowledged upcoming work on replacing water lines could lead to elevated levels and has recommended residents take advantage of free water inspections.
