Voters will get to decide whether there should be a special fund set up for city emergencies in New Orleans.

The City Council gave approval yesterday to the plan first proposed by Mayor Landrieu last month and days after severe flooding inundated a number of neighborhoods.

The measure will be on the November ballot and would place almost half of the money into the emergency pot that's now part of a $60 million fund balance the city has.
