Coroner Confirms Death Cause Of Twin Girls Killed In Fire

The Jefferson Parish coroner is confirming that eight-year-old twin girls found dead in their burning home Sunday died of burns and smoke inhalation.

Autopsies on Estephania And Fernanda Mendoza were performed yesterday.  Both girls were blind and were trapped by the flames that engulfed their Lafayette Street duplex.

Their grandmother reportedly made it to safety with two other children.
