Opioid Deaths Adjusted Upward In Louisiana

An initiative by Louisiana state health officials is leading to an upward correction in the number of deaths last year attributed to opioid overdoses.

The Advocate reports that the undertaking has thus far increased the death toll by 84% to at least 561.

The newspaper reports biostatisticians are working with coroners around the state to find additional holes in the earlier statistics.
