It's the kind of message that might convince you to get a flu shot if you haven't already.
Dr. Frank Welch with the Louisiana Department of Health tells the USA Today Network that upwards of 700 people will likely die in the state this year from flu-related causes. He says about ten percent of the Louisiana's population have already sought treatment for flu-like symptoms.
The flu season doesn't peak until next month.
