Cassidy, Other Lawmakers Escape Injury In Train-Truck Crash

Senator Bill Cassidy and other GOP lawmakers, family and staff on board an Amtrak train that crashed into a garbage truck Wednesday are said to be okay.

The accident happened at a rail crossing in Crozet, Virginia leaving the driver of the truck dead and two others with him injured.

Cassidy, who is a doctor, was among those who helped provide medical attention to those banged up by the impact until paramedics arrived on the scene.

The train was carrying House and Senate Republicans and their families from Washington to a GOP retreat in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
