Man Accused Of Opening Fire On RTA Bus

New Orleans Police have arrested a man accused of opening fire on a RTA bus Friday.

Dimitris Polk allegedly fired two shots on the bus as it approached near the intersection of St. Claude and Louisa. One bullet ricocheted and hit the driver, causing a laceration. The suspect then fled on foot.

Polk was captured following a separate incident on Flood St. where a woman said someone had entered her home and threatened her, her husband and their child.

He was booked on eight counts of aggravated assault in relation to the bus driver, bus passengers and three victims inside of the home; two counts of illegal use of a weapon; and one count each of aggravated battery, aggravated burglary, felon in possession of a firearm, and aggravated criminal damage to property.
