The City Council's Utilities Committee is okaying a plan from Entergy New Orleans to build a new gas-fired power plant in New Orleans East.
The committee voted yesterday to send the proposal to the city council for a full vote. Entergy officials say the plant will cost more than $200 million.
The city council is expected to consider the proposal at its March 8th meeting.
