Gun Violence Awareness Advocates Organize Orange Line

Moms Demand Action is teaming up with the City Council in asking residents to wear orange Friday to promote National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

Officials have chosen orange because it is the color hunters wear to warn others not to shoot at them.

Gun violence is a big issue in the city of New Orleans, as there were nearly 600 shootings last year, with nearly 23 percent of them being fatal.

A "wear orange second line" event will be hosted tonight beginning at 5 and will start at 300 Chartres Street and go to Armstrong Park.
