N.O. Sewerage & Water Board Outlines Hurricane Preps (FOX 8 VIDEO)

The New Orleans Sewerage & Water Board outlinedtheir preperations for the 2018 hurricane season Monday.

As our news partner FOX 8 reports:

They are also expected to update the progress on several turbines.

Last year, breakdowns and a few fires reduced the city's power supply for its pumps from five turbines to just one.

That happened in the days after Aug. 5 flooding where the city's drainage system issues came to light.

Since then, the S&WB has spent more than $80 million on improvements.

However. one turbine is still offline and is expected to be operational in a matter of days.

A staffing shortage is also a top priority with nearly 600 jobs waiting to be filled, including the executive director position.
